MGM Resorts sells land on Las Vegas Strip where 2017 mass shooting took place

The land on the Las Vegas Strip where the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival mass shooting took place has been sold, the company that owned the land said.

  • This Week From CrisisRisk Demonstrations, Riots, Shootings, the news is all about protests and resulting civil unrest. As a Crisis Coordinator, it is your responsibility to keep a vigil for incidents that could lead to a crisis situation for your community and organization.

A New Tip!

  • When I entered my office building this morning, I noticed a sizeable crack in the concrete steps.  I could have caught my heels on it and had a tumble.  The crack, for sure, constituted a real vulnerability!  It’s easy to notice vulnerabilities like the crack, but your job is to be on the lookout for less vulnerabilities that can be less obvious.  People can be vulnerable to a pandemic.  Your building might be vulnerable to an earthquake.  In thinking about such things, does your organization stopped to consider all the things it might be vulnerable to – – and, if so, have you made a plan.  You certainly won’t notice very vulnerability in people, places and things, but making an effort to consider this will definitely make you better prepared to deal with Business Unusual!

  • Here’s just a quick reminder regarding comparing WARNINGS vs. CIRCUMSTANCES.  Keep your eyes out for Warning Signs of things that seem somewhat out of place or character.  If you pay attention to such Warning Signs you’ll be prepared to determine if they grow to Circumstances with potential to have negative impact on your organization or community (your Stakeholders).

  • You were taught that a primary role of your leadership is to protect critical organization assets.  I just want to remind you that critical assets include a lot of things!  Your leadership (and you!) have to be concerned about people, information, brand, reputation, infrastructure, facilities and finances.  And, in your public role, it’s not just for your organization, but the entire community!

  • You’re gonna grown when I say this, but, face it, I JUST CAN’T HELP MYSELF! Always remember that the primary role of a Crisis Coordinator is to … RECOGNIZE – IDENTIFY – ALERT Okay, Okay, I PROMISE the next tips will be more helpful!
